In this article, I want to discuss the role chakras play in our ability to become psychic. Chakras are energy wheels/centers within the body. There are a variety of chakras in the body, though western minds typically focus on seven. When chakras are clean and healthy, energy flows freely within the body. When our chakras are unbalanced, we experience dis-ease in the body. As all mind/body/spirit systems are connected and interrelated, dis-ease in one area will encourage dis-ease in the others.
When we keep our chakras balanced and cleansed, we support our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Clear and balanced chakras support a clear and balanced psychic mind. Cleansing and balancing the chakras can be done through prayer, intention, visualization and by calling on non-physical beings such as Archangels Metatron and Michael as well as Melchizedek (a Judaic and New Age master).
Each chakra correlates to major nerve ganglia branching forth from the spinal column. In addition, chakras also correlate to levels of consciousness, archetypal elements, the developmental stages of life, colors, sounds and body functions. Here are the chakras:
Base Chakra = Earth, Physical Identity, Self-preservation-Red
Located at the base of the spine, this chakra forms our foundation. It is related to our survival instincts (food, shelter, money, etc.), our sense of grounding and our connection to our physical bodies. When healthy this chakra attracts health, prosperity and security.
Sacral Chakra = Water, Emotional Identity, Self-gratification-Orange
Located a few inches above the base chakra (lower back, sexual organs) this chakra relates to emotions and sexuality. It connects us to others through feelings, desires, sensations and movement. When healthy, this chakra brings us fluidity, grace, sexual fulfillment and the ability to accept change.
Solar Plexus Chakra = Fire, Ego Identity, Self-definition-Yellow
Located in the solar plexus area, this chakra relates to personal power, will, autonomy and metabolism. When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity and non-dominating power.
Heart Chakra = Air, Social Identity, Self-acceptance, Love-Green
Located near the heart, this chakra is in the middle of the seven chakras and is related to love. It is also the integrator of mind & body, male & female, persona & shadow, ego & unity. When healthy, this chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion and have a deep sense of peace and centeredness.
Throat Chakra = Sound, Creative Identity, Self expression-Blue
Located in the throat, this chakra is related to communication and creativity. Here we experience the world symbolically through vibration, such as language.
Brow/Third Eye Chakra = Light, Archetypal Identity, Self reflection-Indigo
Located between the eye brows, this chakra is related to the act of physical and intuitive seeing. It opens our psychic faculties and understanding of archetypal levels. When healthy, this chakra allows us to see clearly – which allows us to see the ‘big picture’.
Crown Chakra = Thought, Universal Identity, Self knowledge-Violet
Located at the top of the head, this chakra relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is our connection to a place of All-Knowing. When developed, this chakra brings us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection and bliss.
When our chakras are balanced, our mind/body/spirit connections flow freely from one to another. This flow results in greater receptivity within our psychic mind. In addition to just plain feeling better, we receive psychic and intuitive information that is clearer and more accurate.
