We will call (or e-mail) you after we have your manuscript and it has been
accepted for publication. If your manuscript has not been accepted, we
will return it to you with an explanation. The most common reason for
manuscripts returns is simple editing errors. Spend the necessary time
with your manuscript and make sure it is well written and well edited.
This ability in a writer ensures you manuscript to be of the highest quality and
published above lesser manuscripts.
Handles: All gentry, except hard core pornography, that is illegal
in the United States, and literature that is extremely hateful to an individual
or group of individuals. We do not want screenplays, TV
series teleplays, reality show scripts or manuscripts that is pending hard copy publishing. You
must be the sole owner of your manuscript.
Terms:
DAVIS
PUBLISHING
receives 60% on all sales, foreign
and domestic. Author receives 40%. Agents or editor, other
than DAVIS
PUBLISHING editors that you hire through DAVIS
PUBLISHING, percentage (if any) comes
out of authors 40%. Charges for photocopying, foreign postage expenses, and
scanning is paid by author before you receive any royalty checks . DAVIS
PUBLISHING will send you a bill (and all royalty checks) via
Pay Pal through your e-mail. When
your bill is paid you will start receiving checks. Scanning expense is $5.00 per written page and $7.00 per
photo. Any correspondence to you via the postal service, outside the United
States, is $15.95. Inside the United States, $9.95. This is for the return of
your manuscript, if it has not met DAVIS PUBLISHING'S
standards. Send an addressed
padded envelope, or box with same, with your manuscript, plus a money order for $9.95 or $15.95.
American currency only. If we publish your manuscript we will return
your money order. All costs
and fees must be paid before you receive your first
royalty check. We pay royalty checks as close to the 1st of the month as
we can to ensure that you benefit from the full month sales.
Requirements: Manuscripts must be professionally edited by an
editor, other than yourself, before submission of query, introduction and author
history/photo. Your local newspaper or magazine has good editors. Your
local grade school or high school English teacher has the skill to edit your
manuscript. You must submit a resume of qualification (English teachers
college transcripts) for and form your editor (all editors will be
recognized when your manuscript is published) with your query,
introduction and author history
with photo. If your manuscript is not
professionally edited prior to submission. DAVIS
PUBLISHING will charge
you $84.00 per hour, or $10.00 per page; which ever is the most, to edit
your manuscript (s). This fee is paid
before your manuscript is published.. Book introductions, and or cover,
(unless you hire a DAVIS
PUBLISHING cover
designer) are to be prepared by your
editor. It is the introduction that sells your book and it must be
professionally prepared by your editor. The extra effort on your part will
ensure faster publishing of your manuscript and you receiving royalty checks sooner.
Submitting:
Submit
your manuscript, query, introduction and author history w/photo on CD/RW by postal mail to the above
address. Your manuscript, query,
introduction and author history w/photo may be postal mailed on CD/RW compatible
with Microsoft Windows 95+ and Microsoft Word editing program. Hard
copy manuscripts via postal mail to the above address. WARNING Hardcopy manuscripts acquire
large scanning and processing expenses that must be paid before publishing or
receiving royalty checks.
DAVIS PUBLISHING will
handle most of its correspondence with you via e-mail. If DAVIS
PUBLISHING decides to
publish your manuscript, you will be provided with a password to obtain your
contract from this page, (see DAVIS PUBLISHING'S CONTRACT
on this page). After you have downloaded your contract,
print it and review it with your attorney,
sign it and return it to DAVIS
PUBLISHING
via postal mail or e-mail.
When DAVIS
PUBLISHING receives your signed and notarized
(by your attorney) contract the publication of your manuscript will begin.
